Traffic statistics

When enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics helps us understand visits, page views, referring websites, country, browser and device types, and page performance. We use these aggregate reports to improve the site and understand how people find our music. Reporting is available through our authenticated Cloudflare account.

This analytics service does not use cookies or fingerprinting to identify visitors across websites. We do not add advertising pixels or session recordings. The separate, optional listening measurement below counts track activity only when you choose to enable it. Browser settings and blockers can prevent statistics from being collected.

Optional listening statistics

The Awakening player offers an unchecked “Share anonymous listening statistics” control. If you enable it, we record the song, actual listening time, starts, streams after 30 seconds, natural completions, plays ended early, and native media errors. We also record a broad device category, country when available, referring website hostname, and non-personal campaign/source tags. No names, email addresses, raw IP addresses, full referring URLs or browser fingerprints are stored in these listening records. Cloudflare service logs remain separate.

A random first-party browser identifier rotates daily and is stored in your browser only with your permission. Our server stores a daily salted hash, not the raw identifier. Daily listener numbers are browser estimates, not verified people; they cannot identify the same person across days or devices. Reports are private and stored in Cloudflare D1. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. You can turn measurement off at any time; this stops future collection and removes the browser identifier. Previously collected statistics are not automatically erased. Clear site data to remove the saved preference.

Running the website

Cloudflare hosts and delivers this site. Serving pages and audio involves processing network requests, including IP addresses and request information. Operational request and error data help us keep the website working. These service records are separate from the aggregate traffic statistics above.

Album download counter

The public album counter records completed ZIP transfers from our server, not unique listeners or files saved permanently to a device. Repeat completed downloads count again. The counter stores only an aggregate album total in Cloudflare D1, without visitor identifiers or cookies. Canceled transfers and page views do not increment it; browser or network failures can affect counting.

Browser preferences

Your browser remembers whether you have seen the home-page intro during the current session and whether you have enabled interface sound. These preferences use browser storage and are not analytics identifiers. You can clear them using your browser's site-data controls, and turn interface sound on or off using the sound control on the site.

Contact and updates

Contact links open your email app. The updates form prepares an email request for you to send; it does not automatically subscribe you to a mailing list. If you send us an email, we receive the address and message you choose to share and use them to handle your request.

External media and links

Some artwork is delivered by external providers. Loading Spotify and YouTube players or following external links connects your browser to those services. They handle information under their own privacy policies; the traffic-analytics description above does not describe their data practices.
